AL-HABĪB AHMAD MASH-HŪR BIN TĀHĀ AL-HADDĀD
Rady Allāhu ‘Anhu

Compiled by his grandson:

As-Sayyid Muhammad bin Mustafā Bū Numay
Rahmatullāhi ‘alayh

INTRODUCTION

By: As-Sayyid Muhammad bin Mustafa Bu Numay

Translated from the Arabic by:

Siddiq Osman Noormuhammad

In the Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

All Praise is for Allah, The Opener of doors, The Smoother of difficulties, The Guide to that which is right, The Giver, The Bestower, The Provider without measure to whomever He wills.

And may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon the Master of the beloved ones, the one who ascended (in Mi‘raj) till he was very close to the Presence (of Allah), our Master Sayyidina Muhammad ibn ‘Abdillah, the Messenger of Mercy, the most pure among all those of pure descent.

And (may the peace and blessings of Allah also be) on his Family and Companions and those who followed them from among the Spiritual Pegs, and the Spiritual Pillars, the people who have been especially chosen as pious and who have drawn near to Allah. (May such blessings and peace of Allah be upon all of them) from this day of ours to the Day of Judgement.

After the foregoing, says the needy servant of Allah, Muhammad bin Mustafa bin ‘Alawi Abu Numay Ba ‘Alawi who in no way is capable of adequately expressing himself but is hopeful of the Mercy of his Lord, The Powerful. Allah bestowed upon me the opportunity to adhere to and serve my master, my grandfather who after Allah and His Messenger is my support. (He is) The Imam, the knower of Allah, the most outstanding spiritual personality, the inviter to Allah, the most erudite scholar, the most learned person of understanding, al-Habib Ahmad Mash-hur bin Taha bin ‘Ali bin ‘Abdallah bin Taha bin ‘Abdallah bin Taha bin ‘Umar bin ‘Alawi bin Muhammad al-Haddad, may Allah be pleased with him, and he is pleased with Allah as his Lord. May Paradise be his final destination and abode in the company of his Beloved and Chosen Prophet and his Family and Companions and whoever is chosen by Him.

Allah made it easy for me to gather together the talks and the anecdotes that came from his precious breaths which are invaluable and priceless. These are from his teaching sessions, while he was at home (in Mombasa, Kenya), and in his special as well as general religious gatherings over a period of about four years (end of 1407 to 1410 H). After I had recorded many of these in cassettes, I transcribed them on paper. When I had written down about fifty pages, I read them out to him. He approved them, was pleased and gave me glad tidings that with the Will of Allah, they will be published, and that I will be rewarded for it by Allah.

When I showed this Compendium to the eminent Shaykh Hasan bin Muhammad Shaddad bin ‘Umar Ba ‘Umar, requesting him to give it a name, he suggested the title Manba‘ al-Imdād min Durari Sayyidī Ahmad Mash-hūr al-Haddād (A Fountain of Help: From the Pearls of my Master Ahmad Mash-hūr al-Haddād), may Allah make the people and the towns benefit from him.

And now is the time to begin what is intended with the help of Allah, The King, The One Who is worshipped.
