MANBA‘ AL-IMDĀD: A FOUNTAIN OF HELP

A Compendium of the talks of:

DARS 16: TAZKIYAT AN-NAFS: SELF PURIFICATION

In the words of my master, my grandfather, may Allah make people benefit from him, when he explained what Allah, The Exalted said (in this verse of the Qur’an):

Surely, he has achieved success who has purified himself. (87:14)

He said, may Allah be pleased with him:

Allah, The Glorified and The Exalted, says in His Mighty Book (the Qur’an):

Surely, he has achieved success who has purified himself. (87:14)

In this verse, Allah, The Glorified and The Exalted, is calling our attention to the path of safety and the path of salvation in this life because in this life, the human being finds himself positioned between two matters: either safety or remorse (in accordance) with what has been decreed (by Allah) in Pre-Eternity about damnation or blessedness.

So, among them, (some) will be damned and (some) blessed. (11:105)

So Allah calls our attention in this verse and says:

Surely, he has achieved success who has purified himself. (87:14)

The blessed is the one who purifies, meaning he purifies himself and purifies his heart by obeying the Commands (of Allah) and avoiding the prohibited, and with the remembrance of Allah and with good deeds. So he purifies and frees himself of sins, and frees himself of faults, and frees himself of anything that distances him from Allah, The Glorified and The Exalted.

And indeed if he does purify his heart, the greatest thing he can purify it with is the light of Faith. This is what purifies the heart. And Faith: it is complete belief in what the (Prophetic) Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came with in the religion (of Islam). And the Faith is the tree of salvation and the tree of life and the tree of bliss which you express with the Muslim testimony of Faith and the Declaration of pure Islamic monotheism and it is:

Lā ilāha Illallāh Muhammad-ur-Rasūlullāh

None is to be worshipped but Allah.

Muhammad is the (Prophetic) Messenger of Allah.

So when a person purifies his heart and purifies himself with Pure Islamic monotheism and the Faith, he enters into purification and earns the right to success and the right to Providential Care from Allah, The Glorified and The Exalted.

And (as far as) this purification (is concerned), each person should be able to purify himself. And his purification is with good deeds and good intentions, and following the noble Law (of Islam). This is the path of purification, the path of cleaning, and it is a proof of success and a proof of blissfulness.

And its opposite, may Allah protect us, is the one who abandons his (lower) self, neglects (it), and does not clean it and does not exert in its purification, follows his lower self and its passions and acquires sins until he becomes damned.

O Allah! Make us among Your blissful servants and make us among those whom You have written down as the group of the blessed. Indeed only You can do that and are The All-Powerful over it.
